Indices Pip Calculator: Calculate Index Pip Value
Indices move in points, not pips like forex. But every point has a dollar value attached to it, and that value changes between US30, NAS100, SPX500, and other indices. One wrong pip value assumption on a 300-point US30 move can cost 10× more than you planned. The SureShotFX indices pip calculator gives you the exact point value for any index, any lot size, in your account currency, completely free.

What Is a Pip in Indices Trading?
For stock index CFDs, the term "pip" refers to a point of price movement, not a decimal fraction like in forex. However, broker quoting for indices differs.
| Index | Typical Quote | One Pip (Most Brokers) |
|---|---|---|
| US30 (Dow Jones) | 39,150.0 | 0.1 price move |
| SPX500 (S&P 500) | 5,250.0 | 0.1 price move |
| NAS100 (Nasdaq 100) | 18,200.0 | 0.1 price move |
| GER40 (DAX) | 18,600.0 | 0.1 price move |
On MT4 and MT5 platforms at most CFD brokers, a 0.1 price movement = 1 pip in any of these indices. So US30 moving from 39,150.0 to 39,150.1 is one pip. A 100-point move (39,150.0 to 39,250.0) = 1,000 pips.
What is an Indices Pip Calculator?
An indices pip calculator, also called an index point value calculator, is a tool that tells you the exact dollar (or euro, or pound) value of one pip of price movement for any index CFD.
Unlike forex, each index has its own contract size, currency denomination, and pip value, and they differ from each other. A generic pip calculator built for forex pairs will not give accurate results for indices.
The SureShotFX indices pip calculator is configured specifically for major global indices and handles all contract specifications automatically.
